VÉRONIQUE BERGOUGNOUX - HEAD OF DEPARTMENT >

Véronique Bergougnoux obtained Ph.D. at the Université Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne, France in 2005; thesis "Biosynthesis and secretion of fragrance in Rosa x hybrida L."  In 2005-2007, she worked as a research assistant at UMR- INRA/INH/Université d’Angers, France and from 2007 as a postdoc at the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. She obtained the position of Junior Researcher at the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" from January 2012.

IVO FRÉBORT - PROFESSOR >

Ivo Frébort obtained M.Sc. in analytical chemistry at the Palacký University in Olomouc in 1989 and Ph.D. in biochemistry at the Masaryk University in Brno in 1992. From 1989 he has joined the biochemistry group at the Department of Analytical and Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Palacký University as a research assistant and in 1992 he became senior lecturer. From 1993 to 1997 was "on leave" in Japan, at the Department of Biological Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Yamaguchi University, where completed his second Ph.D. in bioresources science at United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Tottori, Shimane and Yamaguchi University. In 1998 he successfully defended his habilitation in biochemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague, and has been appointed the Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Palacký University from September 1999. In 2001, he was for 6 months a research fellow at the ZMBP, University of Tübingen, Germany, and in 2007 spent 3 months as a visiting professor at Osaka University, Japan. In 2002 he established the Division of Molecular Biology. His present research interests focus on genetics and molecular properties of cytokinin converting enzymes. In 2000-2002, he was the Chair in Chemistry, in 2003-2006 the Vice-Dean for External Cooperation and in 2006-2010 the Vice-Dean for International Relations. From May 2005, he holds a tenure position of the Professor in Biochemistry (degree attained at the Charles University in Prague). At present, he is serving third term in the faculty management as a Vice-Dean for European Investment and Development (2010-2014), being responsible for coordination of large infrastructural RDI projects and for expansion of the biology campus in Olomouc-Holice. In April 2010 he has been appointed the Executive Director of the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research".

PETR GALUSZKA - ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, DEPUTY HEAD >

Petr Galuszka graduated from Palacký University in 1997 and obtained M.Sc. as a secondary school teacher of biology and chemistry. From September 1997 he has been appointed a research assistant at the Department of Biochemistry. From September 1998 he has started his Ph.D. studies in botany at the Faculty of Science, Palacky University. In January-March 2000, he was on a research stay at the Department of Biological Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Yamaguchi University, Japan, and in October-January 2001/2002 at the Department of Biology, University Roma Tre, Italy. His research is focused on biochemistry and molecular biology of cytokinin oxidase from cereals. In june 2002, he successfuly defended his Ph.D. thesis "New aspects of cytokinin degradation metabolism: biochemical and molecular properties of plant cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenases". From July 2007, he holds the position of the Associate Professor in Plant Physiology (degree attained at the Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno in November 2006). From July 2010 he joined the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" as a Senior Researcher and was appointed the head of the Department of Molecular Biology of the Centre.




HANA POSPÍŠILOVÁ

Hana Pospíšilová graduated in Biochemistry (Mgr.) at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University in Brno in 2004; diploma thesis “Cloning, expression and purification of glycosyl transferases from Mycobacterium tuberculosis“. From September 2004 enrolled in doctoral study program in Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry (from 2006 changed to the Biochemistry program) at the Palacký University, theme „Characterization of the enzymes degrading purine derivatives in cells“ (advisor Ivo Frébort; 2004-2008). She defended the Ph.D. on December 15, 2008 and from January 2009 obtained postdoc position in our lab. From July 2010 she joined the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" as a Junior Researcher. She has been on maternity leave since August 2015.

ONDŘEJ PLÍHAL - RESEARCH ASSISTANT>

Ondřej Plíhal graduated from Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Department of Biochemistry in 2000; diploma thesis: "Study of carp GTH II glycosylation". He continued his study in that field at the Charles University (Ph.D., 2005); thesis: "Investigation of Fungal b-N-Acetylhexosaminidase: Structural Properties Related to Function". In 2002 he was on a short-term stay at the University of Hamburg, Department of Organic Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Joachim Thiem. He joined the Laboratory of Functional Cytology, Institute of Microbiology in Prague and focused his research efforts on characterization of plant g-tubulin and its protein interactors in Arabidopsis. From September 2010, he obtained the position of Junior Researcher at the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research".

MÁRIA ŠKRABIŠOVÁ (born ŠMEHILOVÁ) - RESEARCH ASSISTANT>

Mária Šmehilová graduated in Biochemistry (Mgr.) at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc in 2006; diploma thesis "Purification and characterization of recombinant CKX from Arabidopis thaliana and cereals". From September 2006 enrolled in doctoral study program in Biochemistry, theme "Cytokinins as mediators of plant stress responses" (advisor Petr Galuszka; 2006-2009). She defended the Ph.D. on June 21, 2010 and from September 2010 obtained the position of Junior Researcher at the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research". She has been on maternity leave since August 2016.

Mária Čudejková graduated in Biology at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia in 2005. From 2005 enrolled in doctoral study program in Botany at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University, Olomouc (advisor Martin Fellener). In 2008-2011she worked at the State Phytosanitary Administration in Olomouc. From September 2011, she works in the lab as a research assistant. She has been on maternity leave since August 2016.

YOSHIHISA IKEDA - RESEARCH ASSISTANT >

Yoshihisa Ikeda obtained Ph.D. in 2000 from Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. He was post-doctoral fellow at The Rockefeller University NY, Iowa State University IA and Swedish University of Agricultural Science, later becoming a researcher at Umeå University in Sweden and Tohoku University, Japan. He obtained the position of Junior Researcher at the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" from December 2012.


LENKA DZUROVÁ - RESEARCH ASSISTANT >

Lenka Dzurová obtained Ph.D. in January 2013 from the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia; thesis title "Study of molecular mechanism of cell death induced by photodynamic processes". She obtained the position of Junior Researcher (postdoc on the POST-UP project) in the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" from February 2013. She has been on maternity leave since August 2016.

DAVID ZALABÁK - RESEARCH ASSISTANT >

David Zalabák obtained Ph.D. in December 2013 from Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic; thesis title "Cell compartmentation of cytokinin metabolism and perception" (advisor Jitka Frébortová, consultant Petr Galuszka). He obtained the position of Junior Researcher in the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" from January 2014.

Katarína Holubová obtained Ph.D. in September 2014 from Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic; thesis title "Overexpression and silencing of cytokinin dehydrogenases in barley" (advisor Petr Galuszka). She obtained the position of Junior Researcher in the "Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research" from September 2014. She has been on maternity leave since August 2016.

Jaromír Kábrt graduated in 2007 from the Palacký University in Olomouc and obtained M.Sc. in Biochemistry. Diploma thesis "Isolation and characterization of the bacterial trypsin ". From May 2012 he has joined the lab as a research asistant.

Vendula Kajnarová graduated in 2012 from the Palacký University in Olomouc and obtained M.Sc. in Biochemistry. Diploma thesis "Cloning, expression and purification of AMP-deaminase from yeast". From July 2012 she has joined the lab as a technical asistant. She has been on maternity leave since April 2017.

Iva Sedlářová graduated in 2005 from the Masaryk University in Brno and obtained M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Diploma thesis "Study of the role of XPA protein in reparation of DNA damaged by UV-light or by the use of cytostatics". From July 2005 she has worked in the lab as a technical asistant; on maternity leave since August 2011.

Jitka Kopecká obtained Bc. in Molecular and Cell Biology in 2009 at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc. From July 2011 she has worked in the lab as a technical asistant.

JIŘÍ DRÁBEK

Jiří Drábek graduated in 1993 from Masaryk University in Brno and obtained M.Sc. in molecular biology and genetics. In the same year, he started both the postgraduate study of molecular and cellular biology at Palacky University Olomouc and working in the Immunology Department of University Hospital Olomouc. In 1994, he spent a month in the Clinical Institute for Blood Group Serology and Transfusion Medicine Vienna, Austria and in 1995 a month in the Immunogenetics Laboratory in Children Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich, Germany. During 1995-6, he spent nine months as Soros/FCO Visiting Student at Trinity College, Oxford, UK. In 2000, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on using PCR with sequence specific primers for donor-recipient transplantation match. In 2003, he stayed at Athens in Ohio, USA as postdoctoral fellow, working on validation of PCR primer set for identification of degraded human remains from New York World Trade Center. His major interests are detection of genetic polymorphisms and association of genes and diseases. In January 2007, he moved to the Faculty of Medicine.

HANA POPELKOVÁ

Hana Popelková graduated from Palacky University in Olomouc in 1994 and obtained M.Sc. degree as a secondary school teacher of mathematics and physics. At the same universtity, she obtained also M.Sc. degree in biophysics and chemical physics in 1996 and Ph.D. in biophysics in 2000. From September 1999 to July 2000, she worked with the biophysical group at the Department of Experimental Physics, Faculty of Science, Palacky University as a research scientist . In July 2000 - February 2003 she was as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, University of Michigan, USA where she studied manganese stabilizing protein of photosystem II using site-directed mutagenes is. Her current field of interest are mutations and subsequent biochemical and structural characterization of the enzyme cytokinin dehydrogenase. In February 2005, she moved back to Michigan.

JANA UŘINOVSKÁ

Jana Uřinovská graduated in 2002 from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology, Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology and obtained M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, diploma thesis "Molecular genetic study of hypoxanthine-guanine fosforibosyltransferase (HGPRT) deficiency patients. Since 2002 she has been postgraduate student at Charles University in Prague, 1st Faculty of Medicine. Ph.D. Thesis: Is Caenorhabditis elegans a suitable model organism for the study of human lysosomal enzymopathies? A study of Fabry, Schindler, Pompe and mucopolysaccharidosis IIIC diseases in C. elegans and humans, respectively. During 2005 - 2008 she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Inherited Metabolic Disorders in Prague with the main interests in inherited metabolic diseases especially lysosomal storage diseases (LSD), cell biology and pathology of HGSNAT, LSD modelling in C. elegans (RNA interference, transgenic GFP expression) and light microscopy application. She defended the Ph.D. on December 11, 2008 and from January 2009 obtained postdoc position in the lab. In 2013, she moved to Department of Protein Biochemistry and Proteomics, Centre of Region Haná for biotechnological and Agricultural Research.

MEHMET TUFAN ÖZ

Mehmet Tufan Öz obtained Ph.D. in 2012 from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey; thesis title "Microarray based expression profiling of barley under boron stress and cloning of 3H boron tolerance gene". In 2008-2009 he was a visiting Ph.D. Student in the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics, Adelaide SA, Australia. He obtained the position of Junior Researcher at the Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research from January 2013. In June 2014, he moved to Florida and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Florida, Fl, USA.

  LUDMILA OHNOUTKOVÁ

Ludmila Ohnoutková obtained Ph.D. at the Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry, Brno, in 2000; thesis “In vitro techniques of haploid and polyhaploid induction in cereals”. From 1994, she worked at the Institute of Experimental Botany AS CR in Olomouc and from 2007 at the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. From September 2011, she obtained the position of Junior Researcher and GMO administrator at the Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research. In 2015, she moved to the Department of Chemical Biology and Genetics, Centre of Region Haná for biotechnological and Agricultural Research.

  MARTA GREPLOVÁ (born KOWALSKA)

Marta Greplová graduated in Biotechnology at the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, in 2004 (M.Sc.). From September 2006 studied doctoral study program in Biochemistry, theme "Cytokinin dehydrogenase: heterologous expression, isozyme characteristics and analytical application "; awarded with the research scholarship from the Faculty of Science (advisor Ivo Frébort; 2006-2010). She defended her Ph.D. thesis on November 25, 2010. From September 2010, she works as a research assistant.
